Early Sunday morning, an armed terrorist in the Old City of Jerusalem began shooting at vehicles in a parking lot. Eight people, including five Americans, were wounded. Reports indicate four of them were tourists and members of the same family.

Early indications are that the suspect was a Palestinian with Israeli citizenship, living in East Jerusalem. The man initially fled the scene with security forces in pursuit. He later turned himself in to police. The suspect’s identity hasn’t been released, but officials say he wasn’t known to have any terror-related offenses in his background, though he did have a criminal record.
