Down to Our Final Minute

When I was a little boy, an adult in my life gave me a dollar. He wanted to teach me a valuable lesson about money. He said, “Greg, if you will hold on to this dollar all day long, and save it at the end of the day, I will give you five more dollars.”

He gave me a specific deadline: I was supposed to hang onto it until 5 p.m.

Well, that sounded like a pretty good deal. I held onto that dollar all morning and most of the afternoon.

But at around 4:15, I just couldn’t contain myself. I wasn’t sure if the guy really meant it. Would he even come back? I started worrying. As they say, that dollar was burning a hole in my pocket.
