Today, I want to encourage you to have faith for the future. I take this time to explain to you the importance of having faith for the future and how I have seen it lived out in my life.

When God Said No

Sometimes God reminds us just how quickly life can change—and just how faithfully He watches over His children.
Austin, a member of our Tipping Point community from Lagos, Nigeria, experienced one of those moments. As he walked alongside a busy road, a heavy-duty truck suddenly veered toward him. Within seconds, he was pinned between the truck and a parked vehicle before being thrown underneath it.
“It felt like falling from light into darkness,” Austin shared.
As the truck rolled above him, the Holy Spirit gave him the strength to act.
“I rolled out from under the truck because I knew a second’s hesitation and I’d be dead.”
Then came a moment he’ll never forget.
“Rolling out from under the truck felt very much like rolling from darkness to light. Praise Jesus.”
When bystanders helped him to safety, Austin noticed his satchel lying directly in front of the truck’s massive tires.
“That bag was on my right shoulder seconds before the truck hit me. That could have been me under those tires… but God said NO.”
The pain was unimaginable. As he was rushed to the hospital, every bump in the road sent waves of agony through his body. Yet in the middle of the pain, Austin didn’t surrender to fear.
While crying out in pain, he prayed and stood on God’s Word, declaring that he “would not die but live to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” Even as he prepared his heart to meet the Lord if necessary, deep inside he believed God was preserving his life.
The diagnosis was devastating: fourteen fractured ribs, severe chest trauma, and concern that his lungs had collapsed or his spleen had been damaged… but God said NO.
His lungs had not collapsed. His spleen was untouched. Most remarkably, all fourteen fractured ribs remained fractured in place, preventing life-threatening damage to his heart and lungs that would have required emergency surgery. Even the oxygen waiting beside his hospital bed was never needed.
Recovery has taken time. Austin continues physical therapy for a shoulder injury, but his heart overflows with gratitude.
“I am still here despite what the enemy planned. I am still here giving glory and praise to our ever-faithful God.”
When Austin gave permission for us to share his testimony, he explained why he believes God preserved his life:
“That God’s name would be highly magnified and that His children would be encouraged that He is faithful and above every power imaginable.”
Tipping Point family, I hope Austin’s testimony encourages your heart today. We don’t always understand God’s ways, but we can always trust His heart. Whether He protects us, strengthens us, heals us, or faithfully walks beside us through life’s hardest moments, He never leaves His children. What the enemy intends for evil, God can use for His glory.
As Psalm 118:17 declares:
“I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done.” (NIV)
