Could the rebuilt Temple be a "spiritual building" in the hearts of believers?

I recently heard a Christian author say he believes the location of the Temple has changed from an actual physical structure in Jerusalem to a spiritual building in the hearts of believers. He quoted 1 Corinthian 3:16. Do you think the Temple will actually be rebuilt on the Temple Mount? Or is it really a “spiritual temple” like the author suggested?
