A Fragile and Unexpected Ceasefire
As a reminder, I wrote a Breaking News post Saturday night and then delivered a brief Sunday-morning message about the U.S. bombing on Iran. The U.S. called the bombing “Operation Midnight Hammer.”
Since then, Israel and Iran have been trading fire. Last night, President Trump announced a ceasefire between the countries after 12 days of fighting. Both sides appear to have violated the ceasefire within hours of that announcement—though both denied doing so—which led to a very angry statement from Trump this morning before he left for a NATO summit in the Netherlands.
Anything could happen, but as of the time I am writing this, the fragile ceasefire seems to be taking hold. Are we on the verge of real peace or is this just a temporary state before a larger war? We will find out soon.
