Is Christian Support of Israel Declining?
Young Evangelicals view Palestinians more favorably than Israelis
Americans still largely support Israel, but among younger people—including younger Christians—that number is dropping.
According to the Religion News Service, a March 2022 survey of 10,441 U.S. adults found that two-thirds of Americans express “a somewhat favorable view of the Israeli people.” That’s encouraging.
Incredibly, white Evangelical Christians are even more supportive of the nation of Israel than American Jews:
The survey found that 70% of white evangelicals believe God gave the land of Israel to the Jewish people. By comparison, only 32% of U.S. Jews felt God gave Israel to the Jewish people, according to [an earlier] 2020 Pew survey, which asked a similar (but not identical) question.
The Religion News Service article pointed out that Evangelicals scored lowest in their estimation of Palestinians—only 37 percent have a favorable view of Palestinians.
