While most of the world’s eyes are on the U.S. presidential campaign in its final weeks, don’t sleep on what is happening in Israel:
Yesterday, U.S. stealth fighters bombed five Houthi weapons storage facilities in Yemen. These underground bunkers housed weapons the Houthi rebels had been using to target civilian and military ships in the region. The strikes by the B-2 long-range stealth bombers were approved by the Biden administration, according to Fox News.
According to Reuters, members of Israel’s security cabinet have been told that Yahya Sinwar, the mastermind of the October 7 attack last year, has been killed during IDF operations in Gaza. Sinwar had been declared the new head of Hamas after the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in August. If he has indeed been killed—Israel is conducting DNA tests to be sure—it would be considered a significant win for Israel and Prime Minister Netanyahu.
Iran has said that if Israel retaliates to its ballistic missile attack on October 1, then Iran will strike back with increasing force, according to The Times of Israel. Meanwhile, Israel has said that its response to Iran would be forthcoming, but Netanyahu told the U.S. that Israel would focus only on striking military infrastructure rather than oil or nuclear sites, The Jerusalem Post reports.
