U.S. Scrambles Jets in Response to Iran

Over the weekend, the Washington Post reported that the United States Central Command launched warplanes toward Iran from a base in the Persian Gulf in response to a threat of Iranian attacks against Saudi Arabia.

The Jerusalem Post described the situation:

In response to the credible threat of Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks, the US military raised their alert level, with the White House National Security Council saying that it was “concerned about the threat” and in constant contact with the Gulf country. 

The White House declined to comment, and the location from where the jets were scrambled isn’t clear, though the United States maintains a squadron of F-22 fighter jets in Saudi Arabia.
