Danger in Ukraine, the Canadian Church stands strong, and new brain tech arrives
“Extremely Dangerous Situation” on the Ukraine Border
This week, the White House warned that the rapid accumulation of Russian troops along the Ukrainian border now represented an “extremely dangerous situation,” fearing that a Russian invasion of Ukraine could be imminent.
The U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is now in Kyiv, Ukraine, where he will meet with the Ukrainian president in a quickly arranged diplomatic mission. The national media has reported that the buildup of Russian troops represents one of Europe’s greatest security crises since the Cold War, and that a Russian attack could come at any moment:
Blinken said that Ukraine faces an “unprecedented” threat. He reiterated Washington’s commitment to the country’s territorial integrity and repeated warnings that renewed Russian aggression would be met with “very severe consequences.”
During his time in Kyiv, Blinken will also meet with the employees of the U.S. embassy and their families to discuss efforts “to plan for contingencies,” should Russia choose to escalate further, the State Department said.
A broad coalition of American politicians—both Republicans and Democrats—say the U.S. should provide deterrence and have vowed to come to Ukraine’s aid if provoked.
I’ve written before about the threat Russia poses not only to the Ukraine, but also to Israel. And just a little more than a week ago, Tipping Point contributor Mark Hitchcock wrote that Russia’s current aggression could be prophetically significant in light of Ezekiel 38-39. In that passage, the “prince of Rosh” may represent Russia. The advance against Ukraine could be the first stage of a massive Russian-led invasion of Israel.
And don’t forget the cozy relationship Russia has with Iran—a regime that notoriously wants to destroy Israel.
