Are Earthquakes on the Rise?

On Tuesday, an earthquake that measured 6.4 on the Richter scale caused widespread damage in Northern California. It was reported at 2:34 a.m. south of Fortuna in Humboldt County.

More than 70,000 residents were left without power and there was extensive damage to roads and homes. Gas leaks and water line damage were also reported. A magnitude 6.2 earthquake caused damage in the same area exactly a year ago.
