New Hanukkah Record Set at Temple Mount
Hanukkah concluded on Monday and the weeklong holiday marked a record 11,000 Jews ascending to the Temple Mount since the Jewish new year began three months ago. That number doesn’t include visits by foreign tourists or Israeli soldiers, and it may continue to grow—the Israeli government is considering an initiative that allows schoolchildren to visit the site, the holiest in Judaism.
Comparatively, only 4,426 Jews ascended to the holy site during the same period in 2017.
