Is the End of Roe v. Wade in Sight?
Thanks to an unprecedented leak, we learned earlier this week that five members of the U.S. Supreme Court were prepared to strike down Roe v. Wade, which would end the constitutional right to an abortion. The opinion is likely to be announced in June and would make abortion illegal in several states.
Obviously this is good news for those of us who believe in the sanctity of human life. I believe human life is valuable and sacred, and I believe abortion is the greatest sin of our nation. Any step to reduce abortions is a good step. Repealing Roe v. Wade is a goal that many in the pro-life movement have had since it became law in the first place. It hasn’t happened yet officially—Chief Justice John Roberts has confirmed the accuracy of the leaked draft but said “it does not represent a decision by the Court or the final position of any member”—but it gives me great hope.
