Global Energy Turmoil as Russia Cuts off Gas
On Monday, the state-owned Russian energy company Gazprom announced it would begin restricting the capacity of natural gas flowing through its Nord Stream 1 pipeline to Germany. The news threw Germany and other European nations into a panic. Cutting gas availability in half calls into question whether Europe will have enough supply of gas to get through the cold winter months.
