Israel Launches Large-Scale Raid into West Bank

Yesterday, IDF troops instigated a major military raid targeting Palestinian militants in the cities of Jenin and Tulkarm within the West Bank, identifying the two communities as militant strongholds for Hamas. Jenin has long been a central focus of Palestinian militancy against Israel.

Keep in mind, the West Bank is not part of Gaza. It is a landlocked region between Israel and Jordan, while Gaza lies between Israel and Egypt along the Mediterranean Sea. Both territories, however, are central to the conflict between Israel and Hamas. Over the past decade, the West Bank has been known for frequent tensions between Israeli settlers and Palestinian residents. It has been governed partially by the Palestinian Authority, while Israel maintains military control.

It has a population of around 3 million Palestinian people and includes cities like Hebron and Bethlehem.

Israel’s raids included drone strikes as well as on-the-ground gunfire.
