Flooding in Central Texas: All Creation Groans
I know you’ve been paying attention to the devastating footage from the flooding around Kerrville this weekend in Central Texas. That’s nearly 300 miles from where I live in the Metroplex area—Texas is a big state—but almost all of us know people whose lives have been upended or who have lost loved ones in this tragedy. As I mentioned in yesterday’s video, my family and I had just visited this area a few days before the tragedy struck.
To recap, a massive storm system fueled by the remnants of Tropical Storm Barry dropped up to 12 inches of rain in just a few hours on July 4. This caused the Guadalupe River to surge violently and it rose up to 35 feet in less than an hour in the middle of the night.
The flood engulfed campgrounds, small towns and highways in its path.
