These are dark days. You’re bombarded by negative stories every time you turn on the news or log in to social media. War in Ukraine, rising inflation, dire warnings of food shortages and economic uncertainty. Beyond that, we are living in an increasingly godless world.
It’s not unexpected for this environment to leave you feeling hopeless.
But if you know Jesus, you are never hopeless. You can endure dark days because God is with you. Jesus promises you His strength. God has promised to reward your perseverance.
I created this site because I believe the purpose of Bible prophecy is not to make us afraid or anxious, but to prepare us and to give us hope. When the inspired authors of Scripture speak of the last days, they are acknowledging that God is never unprepared. He is never caught by surprise. He sees the future—He holds time within His capable hands—and He is in control.
God also sees you. He knows everything you are going through. He recognizes the difficulty of the world all of us are living in now. He not only sees the sin and uncertainty, but He is with us amid the sin and uncertainty. He is protecting you and giving you strength to continue in faith.
The Bible makes this very clear. In Scripture, God gave us seven specific promises about how He helps us persevere through trials.
1. He rewards courage
Rewards will be yours when you stand strong and do not let your faith waver:
“But you, be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!”—2 Chronicles 15:7
Another translation says God will reward us when we are “strong and courageous.”
2. He elevates us
Paul wrote to Timothy that the ability to withstand hardship earns the promise of ruling with the Lord, including during the coming Millennium:
If we endure hardship, we shall also reign with him. If we deny him, he also will deny us.—2 Timothy 2:12
3. He perfects us
According to the psalmist, God promises to fulfill His purpose in you, to cover you with his steadfast love, and to never abandon you:
The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.—Psalm 138:8
4. He gives us strength
Paul encouraged the Church at Philippi by telling them that the Lord will empower His people to handle every circumstance:
Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.—Philippians 4:12-13
5. He fills us with power and joy
Paul wrote to the Colossians that God’s glorious power brings endurance, patience, and even joy. He will give you strength with His might:
We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, 12 always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light.—Colossians 1:11-12 (NLT)
6. He keeps us safe
The Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, rejoicing that the Lord would rescue us from evil and deliver us into safety:
And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!—2 Timothy 4:18
7. He helps us grow
Writing to the Church in Rome, Paul indicated that God uses problems and trials to draw us closer to Jesus:
And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.—Romans 5:3-5
The Power to Withstand
These may be dark days, but the Bible makes it very clear that brighter days are coming. If you can hold on, keeping your thoughts on God and looking to the future with hope, the Holy Spirit will give you the patience and power to withstand your present circumstances.
The best news in the midst of the darkness? Jesus is coming back.
Soon, you will live in the presence of God with a perfect body and a perfect relationship with Jesus and everyone else around you. There will be no more death, pain or sorrow—only joy!
Keep this truth in mind when the news gets you down. Reflect on these promises when the economy or your present circumstances make you anxious. The darkness is only temporary.
If you have given your life to Jesus, He promises to rescue you. He has prepared for you an eternity of joy, pleasure and happiness. He wants better for you than you even want for yourself. He wants to help you with anything and everything. He will always be with you and He is listening to your prayers.
Jesus Christ loves you more than anyone has ever loved you, and you can always ask Him for help.
Remember: The Lord is with you. He will always be with you. He will never leave you. He is gracious and patient and will never give up on you. On your worst day, He will be your best friend.
And regardless of what is going on in the world or what evil people are doing, God is above it all. He is always in control. He exists outside of time, so He is already in the future! He is also with you right now, in the present.
All-knowing and all-powerful, God is bigger than any problem or enemy. Depend on Him and He will be faithful to you!
Thank you Pastor Evans, Your words are sooo inspiring. I really needed this. I am greatly saddened and sickened seeing so much evil everywhere. Yesterday, I was talking with my friend and she said she was watching one of the main news media, I believe Fox News, and a reporter was interviewing a man engaged in child sex trafficking and two young girls who were forced into this horrific trade. As she told me what was said in the interview, she and I sat and wept for those precious children.
Life used to be exciting and wonderful but no longer. I am sick to my stomach daily because of the evil I see everywhere. I constantly ask God to forgive us for the sins being committed.
The only surety I have is my love for Christ Jesus and others, outside of that nothing matters to me anymore.
Being a single mom of 3 for the past 4 years was scary at first, but God. I couldn’t be in a better place right now, except heaven, for He is the most precious Husband I could have ever imagined. The peace, joy, provision, romance through sunsets, birds, wildflowers, etc. Even in these dark times, He makes life overflow❣️
