Over the past three weeks, I’ve joined pastor Ed Young of Fellowship Church in delivering a four-part sermon series on the end times. It’s called When the Levee Breaks, and the series talks about what Scripture says about the tumultuous times we’re living in and how we can prepare for what’s next.
I know this series represents content the Tipping Point community will really appreciate, whether it comes from me or Ed. So I wanted to use this post to point you to the previous sermons in the series. I also want to invite you to tune in this Sunday, March 13, when I’ll be giving the final message in When the Levee Breaks. It’s titled “What in the World is Going On?” and we will talk about the Russian invasion of Ukraine and how it might relate to Bible prophecy about the Gog-Magog War.
And if you’re a Tipping Point subscriber who lives in or near the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Texas, I’d love for you to visit Fellowship Church in person on Sunday at 9:30 and 11:15am to hear this message.
Previous Messages in the Series
In this introduction to the series, Ed Young shares how, in 2005 during Hurricane Katrina, all the experts said there was a 99.5 percent chance the levees would hold. They didn’t, of course. The flooding devastated New Orleans. So what happens when the levees of eternity break? Because eventually Jesus will come back, and that will be the end.
From cover to cover, the Bible points to Christ’s return and the events of the end times. God gave us all a focus on forever. All the S-I-G-N-S right now are blaring about what’s coming. By setting eternity in our hearts, God helps us understand what life is all about.
This second message is from me. The series itself talks, metaphorically, about when the levees broke during Hurricane Katrina, which led to disaster and flooding. I explain how you can be on the right side of the levee or the wrong side of the levee. On one side, you’re protected. That’s the Rapture. But on the other side, you’re drowning. That’s the Tribulation.
What’s happening in the world right now is very serious, and the next big event is about to happen. Are you ready?
The third sermon in this series, from Ed Young, is about the Final Judgment. As he says, “judgment is not a sexy topic.” But the truth is that we will all be judged. We will face a time of accounting. That’s why it’s important for us to take inventory of our lives. How have we used our abilities? How have we used our gifts? Are our names in the Lamb’s Book of Life?
Eternity and the judgments we face in the future help give us perspective today.
Again, I’ll be delivering the final message in the series this Sunday at Fellowship Church, and you can stream it online here. I hope you’ll watch or visit!
Such a mix of emotions, from elation to Christ's imminent arrival and also heaviness for the sorrows of the unsuspecting masses. The world has waited thousands of years to see these things and here we are, the generation this all happens in. There are many priorities and messages to digest and dissect since we are here now. Getting the gospel out is still tops on the list. Producing fruit with right living - kindness, honesty, gentleness, all the fruits of the spirit. One other thing is prudence and discretion to protect our loved ones for whatever time we have left. For example, getting as rural as possible, if this is possible. Preparing as much as possible, within reason and without getting obsessed. Becoming as self reliant as possible. My wife is great at canning, freeze drying, gardening. We hunt and fish like fools here in Montana but these have real application in our times now, in these vast lands. More and more, we are going to be needed as the hands of Christ to minister to everyone we encounter. There are many ways to minister and some of them are very practical.
Thank you Pastor Jimmy and Pastor Ed for this amazing series on End Times! WOW! Love that a church in my neck of the woods is teaching Eschatology! I'll be there on Sunday... don't want to miss this church event! 💛
