Reporting from Jerusalem, I examine Israel's complex position amid shifting regional alliances. While Israel begins a new offensive to take control of Gaza and prepares for U.S.-run aid operations, President Trump has completed a whirlwind Middle East tour that notably excluded the Jewish state. I analyze Trump's grand vision for a Middle East "defined by commerce, not chaos," his ambiguous stance on Iran's nuclear ambitions, his unilateral ceasefire with Yemen's Houthis (who continue attacking Israel), and his perplexing description of Gaza as a "nasty place" that should become a "freedom zone." Most troubling for Jerusalem is Trump's embracing of Ahmed Al Shara, Syria's new leader with terrorist roots, and lifting sanctions against Syria despite Israeli objections. Against this backdrop of diplomatic uncertainty, I share the powerful story of Nova Festival survivor Yuval Rafael, who represented Israel at Eurovision with her moving song "Hurricane"--a poignant reminder of Israeli resilience amid continuing threats from Hamas, Houthis, Iran, and global antisemitism.
