In this episode, I take you on a captivating tour of the British Museum in London, where I showcase two small but profoundly significant biblical artifacts. First, I explore the Amarna letters—clay tablets from the 14th century BC that dramatically confirm the Bible's account of the Israelites taking possession of Canaan. These desperate messages from Canaanite rulers to Egyptian Pharaohs describe a people called "Habiru" (Hebrews) who were conquering their lands, perfectly aligning with the biblical period of Judges after Ehud's assassination of King Eglon of Moab. The second artifact highlights the goddess Ishtar (Queen of Heaven), whose seductive worship constantly drew Israel away from God through sexual immorality. Most intriguingly, I note how her famous "Burney Relief" portrayal is currently being used to promote LGBTQ histories by the museum—a sobering reminder that perhaps instead of condemning ancient Israel for idolatry, we should recognize how similar patterns of compromise continue in our modern culture.
